How Does Mobile Banking Work?
Mobile Banking is a downloadable software application that resides on your mobile device (mobile phone, Blackberry, smartphone, etc.). After downloading this application using the Internet browser on your mobile device, you simply follow the set-up instructions that appear on-screen. This process generally takes minutes (download speeds vary by mobile device). Once set-up is complete, you enter a secure Activation ID (which is displayed on-screen during the setup process), along with your existing Internet Banking User ID and password (the same one you use today to access your Internet Banking service). Once authentication is complete, you can view your account balances, transaction history and scheduled bill payments. You can conduct same-day transfers and same-day bill payments to existing merchants and can send/receive secure messages from Customer Service.
And best of all… any transactions conducted in Mobile Banking are entered in the same Online Resources' database that your Internet Banking service utilizes. This means you can easily view consistent account information whether you access your service via Mobile Banking or Internet Banking!
How Secure Is Mobile Banking?
Because Mobile Banking uses an actual software application, the application has been created with security as a key component. The service features industry-standard 128-bit SSL encryption (via https) on our servers, and in addition all data transmissions and all messaging feature 128-bit encryption. As a reminder, 128-bit encryption is also used for your Internet Banking service. Security has also been factored into the functionality of the Mobile Banking service. The application allows users to save their User ID on their mobile device, but they cannot save their password. In addition, the application does not allow users to set-up new payees, view future transfers, or schedule future or recurring transactions; users will need to visit our Online Banking service to conduct these tasks. Combined, these features help deter unauthorized users from accessing the Mobile Banking via the users' mobile device
Do I Need A Particular Mobile Phone Or Device To Use Mobile Banking?
Yes. Mobile Banking is compatible with leading mobile devices and operating systems - Blackberry phones, Windows Mobile Smartphone, Windows PocketPC, and Palm (Treo) are all supported. Devices that support installing Java-based software applications are also able to use Mobile Access.
Do I Need To Use A Certain Mobile Service Provider Or Package To Use Mobile Banking?
No - all mobile service providers (i.e. Verizon Wireless, AT&T) are supported. Users must have a mobile device that supports Internet access; fees for Internet access are determined by the mobile service provider.
