New Branch Planned For Westerly

NewportFed announced today that it has signed a lease as a tenant, partnering with Ocean State Job Lot to construct and occupy a new bank location in Westerly, at 18 Post Road, current location of Stop & Shop and the future site of Ocean State Job Lot. Subject to local approval, the Bank will construct a 3200 square foot single story stone and shingle building. The site will be home to a state of the art full service branch with 3 drive-thru lanes, including an ATM. “Construction of this new office will complete our plan to upgrade our facilities in Westerly and provide 21st century banking and enhanced convenience to the community,” said President & CEO Kevin McCarthy. The bank intends to begin construction as soon as approvals have been obtained from local governing authorities. The branch is expected to open in 2010.

Mary Lou Lamontagne Joins NewportFed

Newport Federal Savings Bank President and Chief Executive Officer Kevin McCarthy has announced the appointment of Mary Lou Lamontagne as the Business Development Officer in Stonington Connecticut. Mary Lou will be responsible for establishing and servicing new deposit relationships with business, non-profit and personal customers. She will be developing leads and referrals for loans as well as merchant services and she will be calling on perspective new clients and servicing existing deposit relationships. Mary Lou’s previous banking experience was as a Senior Collection Manager at BankBoston and worked at Verizon as an Advertising Account Executive and at AT&T as a Small Business Account Executive. Mary Lou is a member of the Southeastern CT Women’s Network, Eastern CT Chamber of Commerce, TeamWomen, Girl Scouts of RI and both the Mystic Chamber of Commerce and the South Kingstown Chamber of Commerce. Mary Lou resides in Richmond, RI with her husband and two daughters.

The NewportFed Charitable Foundation Contributes Over $250,000 Statewide In 2008

The level of giving exceeded the previous high granted by the Foundation. Lion's Club Of Westerly Schedules Spaghetti Dinner Benefit

Westerly, RI… The Lion’s Club of Westerly has scheduled a Spaghetti Dinner, Thursday, April 10, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Calabrese Club, 28 Pleasant Street, Westerly, RI to benefit DWI Accident Victim Sylvia Bogusz. All dinner expenses are being underwritten by NewportFed in order that 100% of ticket sales will benefit the victim, Sylvia Bogusz. Tickets are $8.00 for adults, $5.00 for children under the age of 12. This benefit is being planned by the members of the Lion’s Club and it is to help the family of Sylvia Bogusz. NewportFed and all of their employees have been taking part of this event to help support Sylvia and her mother, Grace Chylinska, who is a former employee. Sylvia is the 17 year old girl who was struck on Route 1 in South Kingstown in June 2007 by a drunk driver. She had done everything right, her car broke down, she pulled well off the road, called for help and got out of her vehicle and stood off to the right of the passenger side of the car and this drunk driver (who was arraigned in June and held without bail) lost control of her car and crossed over 2 lanes of highway and struck Sylvia. All proceeds from this event will be contributed to the ongoing hospitalization expenses that Sylvia and her family are enduring.

NewportFed Purchases Property In Portsmouth, RI

Newport, RI… NewportFed announced today that it has purchased the property at 1430 East Main Rd., Portsmouth (at the corner of School House Lane). The Bank will construct a 2-story stone and shingle building with approximately 6800 square ft. of usable space. The site will be home to 15 full time employees and house a full service branch with 3 drive-thru lanes, including an ATM. The bank’s Operations Department will relocate from Newport to the second floor of the new facility. “This expansion is driven by the Community,” said President & CEO Kevin McCarthy. “For many years our customers have asked that we locate in Portsmouth. The capital we raised upon going public not only provides the resources to expand in our back yard, but to consider opportunities in other nearby markets as well. This facility will enable NewportFed to offer the convenience of its consumer, business and commercial banking services to the Portsmouth community.” Construction is expected to begin in April, with completion expected late in the 4th quarter.

NewportFed Coming To Stonington, CT

Newport, RI… NewportFed announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Readco Stonington III, LLC to lease an 11,000 sq. ft. parcel located in the new shopping center development situated at the northwest corner of Route 2 and Route 49, in the Town of Stonington. The Bank will construct a 3400 sq. ft. full service branch with 3 drive-thru lanes, including an ATM. “We are very excited to come to Stonington which, added to our branch presence in nearby Westerly, will provide added convenience to current customers, a first class product menu and top quality customer service to those who are new to us in Stonington”, said President & CEO Kevin McCarthy.
